SRH History

2013

  1. Sunrisers Debut in IPL 2013.
  2. Kumar Sangakkara appointed captain.
  3. Team performs well but finishes fourth place.

2014

  1. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was appointed as captain of the SRH.
  2. SRH has a disappointing season as they finish 6th.
  3. David Warner was the highest run-scorer for SRH with 528 runs.

2015

  1. David Warner replaces Shikhar Dhawan as captain.
  2. Another disappointing season with a sixth place finish for SRH.
  3. David Warner won the Orange Cap with 562 runs.

2016

  1. SRH becomes the dark horse under David Warner.
  2. They steal the cup from under Royal Challenger Bangalore’s noses who were actually dominating the season.
  3. SRH wins the IPL for the first time.
  4. Bhuvaneswar Kumar won the purple cap with 23 wickets.

2017

  1. David Warner continues as captain.
  2. SRH have an illustrious title defence but fail.
  3. SRH finished third after several brilliant performances from David Warner and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.
  4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar retained the Purple Cap again bagging 23 wickets for the second consecutive time.
  5. David Warner won the Orange Cap after scoring 641 runs.

2018

  1. Kane Williamson replaces David Warner as captain following the latter’s ban after the infamous ball-tampering controversy.
  2. SRH battled their way to finals.
  3. They however lost to a returning Chennai Super Kings in the finale.
  4. Kane Williamson won the Orange Cap with 735 runs.

2019

  1. David Warner returned after serving his one-year ban period but Kane Williamson continued as the captain.
  2. SRH reached the qualifiers but lost to Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator.
  3. David Warner won the orange cap with 692 runs.

2020

  1. David Warner replaced Kane Williamson as captain.
  2. All-rounder Sakib Al Hasan was banned for a year, and the team decided to release him from his contract
  3. SRH team 2020 player’s list has the following new additions- Abdul Samad, Fabian Allen, Mitchell Marsh, Priyam Garg, Sandeep Bavanaka, Sanjay Yadav, Virat Singh.
